Awesome! September 2, 2010 Joe I had a g15, but I shorted the board by spilling water on it, so I had to get a replacement. This keyboard was ideal since I wanted one with illuminated keys, and the price for the newer model g15 was ridiculous. I couldn't find a first gen g15, so this had to do. And it's been awesome since I bought it. It does what it's advertised to do. The keys on this board are a bit smaller than my old g15, but I got used to it, so it's not really that much of a con. I'm going to miss the programmable multi-purpose keys that the g15 had, but that doesn't mean I'll change the rating because I wanted something that the Eclipse was not advertised to have.
Lighted keyboard August 28, 2010 viola h concannon I ordered two of the keyboards, one for me & one for my son`s birthday. Now I don`t have to turn on a lamp to use the keyboard, I love it!
Worse than a standard keyboard. August 26, 2010 Allen L. Sheu I was suggested this keyboard by a friend, and bought it with gaming in mind.
+ The biggest issue I have with standard keyboards is the inability to press certain combiniations of keys at the same time. While I certainly did not stress test this on the Eclipse II, I had no issues with my normal activity.
- The left ctrl key was very insensitive, causing me to issue wrong commands, which is unacceptible in gaming. I found out that the rubber membrane beneath the key was misaligned, and I had to pop off the ctrl key every couple months to re-adjust it.
- The keyboard is bigger/heavier than standard keyboards, and the keys are noticabily stiffer. This may be prefered by some people, but I can't see how having any extra delay would be good for gaming.
- The paint on the keys wears out easily (I've used it for less than a year). While the painted letters on standard keyboards usually fades, this keyboard is actually worse as the letters and the actual color of the keys will fade using this keyboard.
Overall, I expected a lot more from a $50 keyboard. For my purposes, it performs worse than a cheap standard keyboard.
Worth the wait August 20, 2010 Siouxthegal (Central Florida) Our Dell keyboard letters and numbers started fading not long after we got it. We never had this fading problem before. Got progressively worse so started searching for a backlit one. My husband has backlit on his laptop and I love it. I kept going back to this one and when I decided it was out of stock so I waited. Well worth the wait, I love it. Love the choice of 3 colors-blue,red,purple. I have long nails and to type its great, comfortable for your wrists. Had it almost a month so if I notice any "cons" I will add another review. This was a good price at Amazon (prices usually are) and by the way, we bought a Vista computer and upgraded to Win 7 Ultimate and this works great. That was another one of my researching ventures.
Had to send it back August 14, 2010 jam After typing for eight hours my hands and wrists were very sore. The keys weren't confortable. It looks really cool and I loved the illumination but it was just not comfortable for heavy typing.
