Excellent Wii Addition April 27, 2010 Ricky Lee Hicks (Murrells Inlet, South Carolina USA) A very good Wii connection option since they are not on HDMI. This provides a very good quality connection.
Cable Works, Resolution Improvement Not Great April 18, 2010 NVS Wii HD Component Cable
It is always important to use the highest resolution cable available (i.e. For video, HDMI / DVI is better than Component, Component is better than RGB etc.)
HD is a misnomner for this cable because the resolution improvement is minimal compared with not using it. This is a Wii issue, not a cable issue. Consequently, was relieved that I choose this much lower priced component cable than paying more for a Wii cable and then being dissapointed.
This resolution problem became even more obvious when recently viewing streaming Netflix over Wii on a 1980 x 1024 TV.
Works fine - good image quality April 17, 2010 Wireless in Union City (Union City, CA United States) I wanted a second setup so I could move my Wii from my Living Room to my family room to play Monster Hunter Tri without disturbing the family at night. I initially hooked them up wrong (put the red audio jack into the red component jack) and it took me a while to figure out why things looked weird. Not surprising, user error. Once I had them connected correctly, it looked as good or better than the official cables I had in the other room. Cables are rather heavy gauge (a good thing). It's a very cost effective solution.
Great deal, better than comparable products April 4, 2010 Don (South Carolina) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Excellent cable
PROS:
-The MadCatz cable I received bundles the three component cables closely (R/G/B), but seperates the audio bundle (white/red); this can be seperated about 4 feet, adequate for those who split between a TV and receiver, etc.
** THIS IS CLEARLY DIFFERENT THAN THE PICTURE SHOWN (where you might get 6 inches), but is a welcome improvement**
-Greatly improved colors over the basic composite (yellow) cable; this made the colors on Zelda pop- I was quite disappointed with the graphics when I first played over the single yellow composite
CONS:
-This component cable on my TV resulted in more jaggies than the composite (overall with the color improvement the effect is better by a good bit to me, but my wife doesn't like it); this may be different with different TV models or receivers which may process different sources better than others.
-This will not help if you have an OLD TV... be sure you have component inputs (almost any TV bought in the last 5 to 8 years SHOULD have the connections- the Red/Green/Blue ports in back)
The cable works fine, but... April 3, 2010 S. Noedel (WA, USA) The thing that many people don't realize about the Wii "HD" cables is that they are not actually HD. It's not a problem with the cable, it's a constraint of the Wii itself. Using a component video cable such as this one will change the display mode output from the Wii from 480i to 480p. This means that the picture is rendered slightly better on the screen, but is not actually in a better resolution. The difference between the standard Wii cable and a component cable is noticeable, especially on larger HDTVs, but may not be the visual boost you hope for.
