Looks cool, but works horribly September 3, 2010 Thomas Hester So I bought this exact (black) Madcatz controller because I thought the shape of it was cool and I used one of my friend's (not for a game though). I'm a big CoD player and this controller is nothing but trouble: couldn't support my TurtleBeach headset microphone function and the buttons (specifically triggers and joysticks) tend to stick--either I slightly strafe or I stay zoomed in after I released the trigger. It's too much of a hassle. I should have bought the Microsoft Xbox original controller. Madcatz is back at a B-brand for me.
MadCatz - 360 Gamepad August 17, 2010 Karch While the controller feels cheaper than a regular 360 Gamepad and some buttons lie in different places, overall the design of the controller is well done. It works well on both a 360 and a PC. Kudos.
Solid, Cheap Controller July 9, 2010 M. Blevins I got 2 of these to round out my number of controllers to four. I use them when playing Blur 4-player on my PC. They are solid little controllers, especially for the price, though they do feel a bit "cheaper" than other controllers. Overall, I would say they make good secondary controllers for multi-player games. The Hori Pad EX 2 Turbo is still my favorite, though. I'd recommend having one really excellent controller like the Hori Ex 2 for your 1 player gaming, and picking up these cheaper Madcatz controllers for multiplayer stuff as I did.
Bring true gaming to the pc July 9, 2010 Shane Frost Video gaming is one of my favorite activities to do in the lazy times of the day. I'm a console stud by heart and have a deep love for the console games. It is for that very reason I am very skeptical working with a video game that only works via a mouse and keyboard. Worst of all there are just so many people daily who seem to spam the hell out of others like me saying " Get used to it, it's way better!" and while this could be considered with games that REQUIRE keyboard and mouse use such as final fantasy/etc When it comes to games like first person shooters, you learn to grow a deep hate for the W,S,A, and D keys. Not to mention in the heat of the matter who wants to reach halfway across their keyboard to tap R to reload, or hit U to talk, or N to switch weapons?! I'm a shooter by heart and games like Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead, Borderlands and Call of Duty it takes much more than just skill mastering a keyboard. You break your fingers on the pads and lose a lot of esteem working that way if you aren't into it. It is why that when I had recieved this controller for said games I was in heaven. I had spent weeks attempting to master the games and even as I had grown used to them the fact had remained I was not a PC gamer. With the mad Catz xbox controller I felt like I had the control again and the edge. Most of all I had a one up factor over even the console controller: A smoother compact feel, a more sensitive grip, and full access control mapping to give me the comfort on which buttons I felt better with. I will say I was deeply skeptical over getting a controller for the PC just as much as playing on it. For all I knew I was getting a piece of junk and that worried me. I am glad to say I had it all wrong and in the end I now have another new console to work with that will provide me another full year of entertainment. :)
A few things I should mention however about the controller that is not specified is that this is not an exact replica of the 360's version. This was designed to be more compact and the controls to remain tighter as a group. The layout is designed, in my opinion at the very least, more forward for quicker response and certain buttons were redesigned larger for use of ease such as the left and right bumper. The biggest thing I should mention is the Left and Right triggers which were made in a hook like mannor that when tapped feels so much greater than the 360 version. The bonus side to all of this is that it doesn't just stop on the pc though. This controller can also work on your very console providing the same awesome control. A word of advice however to users who are playing Team Fortress 2: In order to gain the full function of your controller you must enter your options menu, go under the keyboard section, go into advanced options and click " Enable developer console" upon returning to the menu press the wave key "`" and then enter on the command "exec 360controller" without the " " at which point your controller will auto tune to the original controls featured on the 360. For all other games the controls easily adjust and can be tuned. :)
Xbox 360 Controller for PC May 10, 2010 K. Black (Westchester, NY) This controller is very good and functions exactly the same as a regular Xbox 360 controller. I used it to play Saints Row 2 since the controls for PC are terrible. I also used it with Beat Hazard, an indie game on Steam. It seems to be durable enough. It hooks up with USB, and is plug and play. No need to install any drivers or discs or batteries or anything like that. You can also use it on a normal Xbox 360. My only complaint is that the analog sticks do not have the rubber bumps on them like a regular 360 controller. But it's no big deal since those rub off eventually anyway.
**Use the controller as a mouse - download a free program called 7plus. It will enable you to use the controller like a mouse, with right click/left click functionality, etc. 7plus also has a bunch of good hotkeys that some of you may find useful.
