Gallop and Ride tricks and tips April 10, 2010 B. Brockhaus I got this game for Christmas and fell in love with it immediantly. The picture on the screen is in the highest quality and the horses look almost real. You can pick what type of horse you want; the color, and if it has stockings or a stripe etc. At first, it is hard to control the horse but stick with it and you soon get the hang of it. But BEWARE! Before you get your one star rating, DON'T, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES SLEEP SO YOU CAN GET $50 A DAY. The horse will get really hungry, lose trust and become VERY filthy. You can ride your horse through the pastures, train foals, and deal with guests!(they give you ALOT of cash too!)
Hope this helps you decide. Besides, I have played and finshed the game and I still enjoy playing it.
Nicely Satisfying April 2, 2010 EquineEnthusiast 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This game is one of many Equestrian games I have bought, and I've tried playing even more. For a TV-based gaming system, this game is by far my favorite.
As an older teen, who is nuts about horses, I really appreciate the intricacies of this game; management of finances is a must, and you advance more quickly if you have a plan. It's also a game that can be played with more laid-back attitude, as long as you're content with how long it will take you to the end of the game.
I started out not having a clue what I was doing, but by the time I had upped my star rating, I felt like this was an actual place that I had to have a set routine for everyday. (Strategically feeding, grooming, and riding your horses is essential for maximum advancement in the shortest amount of time.)
I love the graphics, and the option of changing your control schemes. One of my few quibbles is that it can be frustrating to train in the beginning, because your horse's energy supply is incredibly finite. However, this is good motivation, and with what you gain from experience, and experimenting, you'll soon find a good, overall training plan that works wonderfully.
All of the "mini games" (great ways to earn money) that are eventually unlocked are relatively fun. The Foal training can be frustrating, until you get the 'longe flick' just right. Massage therapy is much easier, and often pays much better for your time.
*Note: Time management is VITAL to this game, you MUST know how long things will take, and if you're out riding, know when you should return so that you have enough time to groom your horses and put them up for the night.
I have basically "beat" this game, and if anyone needs help, I'd be more than willing to offer any tips I can (just leave a comment).
Hope my review was helpful! (This game comes with my highest recommendation)
The Best Game Ever! December 26, 2009 This is my favourite Wii game ever! It is so easy and fun!
Pros:
- Beautiful horses
- Extremely Realistic
- Lots of Room for Trail Riding
- Very addictive
The graphics are incredible! The waterfalls and trails are very cool to ride along and find golden horseshoes (which are bonus points that can be spent in your office) My freinds comes over and refuses to stop playing until she has to leave. I find the controls to be very easy to manuver and it is nice that you can change the speed of gameplay so certain tasks are faster.
Cons:
- To reach the 4 star rating in the game, you have to keep all your horses in perfect matinance, which is a bit challenging and comsumes time. I have found a system to achieve the 4 star rating. I put all my horses in the paddock, upgrade the guesthouse, buy mountains, and then take my best horse out of the paddock and care for it and race it in the competitions.
- There are only 3 breeds, but I am enjoying the gentics in the breeding section and the numerous coat coulors/markings.
- I hate how the guests never clean up the horses after they are finished riding! It adds more work to clean the horses everyday.
Tips:
- Always read books! It helps a lot, everything is faster and easier!
- Use "Instant Mode" to practise jumping so you know what to expect on your first course.
- Remember, guests do not have to be booked in! You can just make them leave by declining their requests.
- Controls are pretty easy once you get the hang of it. If you find that your remote is to sensitive and your horse turns all over the place, go to the wii menu, click settings and find remote sensitivity. You can also go to "options" on the game menu and change the controls to nunchuck riding.
- When traning foals, always use a carrot if they misbehave at a target. Watch how you flick the remotes. Make sure you are only flicking it in ONE direction, or else the foals will misbehave.
- If foal traning is not your forte, you can always compete in events to earn cash.
Relaxing and Educational and a bit SIM Horse Ranch. December 17, 2009 DJ 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this game for my 6 year old daughter, letting her pick out a game for the Wii. She likes horses and I wasn't going to argue with the price of the game. At first the controls took a little getting used to, but having experience riding a real horse it was a snap to pick up. A hint: (Leave your horse/s in the paddock unless you are grooming it/them until after you have built a guest house. They cost allot in food in the stalls and require more grooming.) The game has allot of information in the form of books you can purchase that if you read them help you earn more money or do tasks faster. The information goes beyond the game and is great for getting kids interested in horses. Be prepared to talk about the birds and bees. The breeding part of the game is really cool if you are into genetic matching (very basic). Its hard to make a perfect match in the alloted time but perfection is not required get as close as you can. A hint: (Bread your own horse, train your own foal. It will be strong enough that you can enter more than one race in a day. Or you can sell it for more money than untrained.) My daughter just likes riding the horse and cleaning the hoofs and makes me do the rest. She has only ridden a horse being lead in real life and I can tell she is exited when the horse runs and jumps for her in the game. I played the game to completion in about three weeks (8 game weeks). It was getting repetitive at the end as you only have time to groom for several game days.
