3 out of 5 stars Great for a week or two...   August 31, 2010
Kiergan
When I first received this controller I was extremely happy. It worked like a charm! After about 2 weeks of controller bliss however, things started to go down hill. The right and left analog thumbsticks started to work on their own. I tried unplugging and resetting, but nothing. I've tried to mess with the sensitivity switch... nothing. After trying everything I could think of, I decided to shelve it. So far I haven't found anything that will work.

It's a shame this has ghosting issues. This would've been THE #1 controller to purchase for the 360.

5 out of 5 stars Great Product - Finally a good third party controller   August 28, 2010

I have been using the Hori Pad EX 2 Turbo for about a month now. This is a great product. Although at first it take some getting use to since the LB and RB buttons are also face buttons next to A B X Y (they are still in their usual location as well (the set up is for fighting games)). But once you get use to this it wont be a problem I didn't even realize I was so comfortable with till I was at a friends house and picked up a Microsoft controller for the first time in a month. I now hated the way the standard controller felt so I decided to watch him play instead of joining him.

This product is solid. It's sturdy and just seems like it can withstand some damage although I don't mean to find out. The turbo feature works beautifully with multiple settings the lowest of which can pass for a normal speed so no one would know you had a turbo controller. The thumb stick sensitivity was such a good bonus for me. I lack hand and eye coordination but love video games and play extremely frequently. So this helped my aiming a lot. I have also found that navigating menus is so much easier the d-pad is so much better than that of the standard controller. I never over or under click since it's perfectly responsive.

Some cons on this one are that the controller presses buttons sometimes while it's idling but not during game play (the movement was only during idling though it never has once happened during game play). Wired. I was a wireless gamer till I bought a wired gaming headset and this at the same time. So this is a big transition for me.

Just to let everyone know this is not a modded controller. This is official licensed by Microsoft, same as the standard controllers. Which means while modded controllers are illegal this i perfectly okay for you to use. Although it will still be frowned upon its legal at least.

Also want to add this controller is good for all game genres and not just first person shooters or fighters. I've played a wide variety of games with this and have seen light to major improvement on my skill level courtesy of this controller.

5 out of 5 stars Best controller on the 360 period (including official controllers)   August 16, 2010
A. Hartman (FL USA)
I bought this controller just hoping for something that would save my fingers in Castlevania HD (the turbo feature), but instead I got a controller that is saving my hands in nearly every game I play.

This is, without a doubt, the best controller for the Xbox 360 at the moment. Also note that, from Amazon, it is one of the CHEAPEST controllers you can buy as well!

I'll deal with the one downside first: the triggers are not as good as the standard controllers. Your FPS will suffer until you grow accustomed to the different triggers.

The rest is gold:

1. The turbo features are great for a lot of games. You can set turbo for EVERYTHING. You can turbo the 4 face buttons, the bumpers, the triggers, EVEN the d-pad and the stick clicks!! The only caveat is you cannot turbo start, select, or more than 1 direction on the d-pad at once (doubt this would ever be an issue).

2. The d-pad is AMAZING. I have the street fighter 4 mini-controllers and this d-pad is ever better than those. It still doesn't compare to a dedicated fighting stick but it's very very close.

3. Don't let the button layout fool you. The bumpers are on the front of the gamepad, AND IN THEIR NORMAL SPOTS AS WELL. This pad gives you 2 RB LB's, and it's a great design choice. You are good to go for FPS and fighters.

4. This controller is well made. The two sticks feature a nice auto-center that is a bit stiffer than the standard controllers, but not as rough on you as the mad catz modern combat 2 controller. It never feels like you are fighting the sticks, and they give amazing feedback.

5. The bonuses are great. You get 3 turbo speeds, and even AUTO TURBO. Auto Turbo means the button is being pressed without you even pressing it (at your set turbo speed). There is an analog sensitivity switch that actually is very nice in some FPS. You can make the sticks more responsive or less responsive. The only downside is that you cannot change the sensitivity of the sticks individually.

In summary, if you are looking for a corded controller for any type of game, this is your absolute best bet.

4 out of 5 stars Good controller, bad w/ FPS Freeks   July 31, 2010

I could not grasp why I had such trouble aiming with this controller until a few days after getting it. I immediately put on my trusty FPS Freeks that I've been using on an official 360 pad for over a year. From the begining I had trouble aiming in MW2, but not as much on BF:BC2.

My main worry before getting this controller was position of the right thumbstick. It's a bit futher of a reach (due to the 6 button lay out) and adding the extended height of the FPS Freeks only adds to that problem.

So last night, after using the Hori for a few days, I gave up on using it and put my FPS Freeks back on the 360 pad. This morning I logged on and was going to continue using my 360 pad, but decided to give the Hori another go, this time w/o the FPS Freeks. To my surprise aiming was much easier, not as good as the 350 pad w/ or w/o the FPS freeks, but much better than the clumbsy over aiming I was getting w/ the FPS Freeks on the Hori.

So all-in-all I'd say this controller isn't that bad. Just try it w/o FPS Freeks if you have them before giving a review on the controller, as your mind may change like mine did.

One other thing to note, in MW2 I still have trouble aiming with the pad's sensitivity set on anything but wide, the slowest setting. On normal or narrow, the sensitivity seems really touchy. I normally play with my MW2 sensitivity on 4 or 5 w/ the 360 pad, but w/ this controller I have it set on 2 or 3 and like I said the pad's sensitivity set on wide.

5 out of 5 stars Hori XBOX360 EX2 Pad w/ Turbo   July 23, 2010

This is a phenomenal pad. If you're debating whether or not it's D-pad is worth the money - I can assure you that it totally is. I use the D-pad for normal movements and also unleashing super and ultra combos in street fighter IV and the pad's functionality has not done me wrong once. The construction is very solid, sturdy and the feel or the pad is one of durability and strength. Even during XBOX Live matches with very frantic attacks, counterattacks and maneuvering and positioning - the pad is exemplary.
